Univmail F.A.Q.’s

  1. What is Univmail Announcements ?

    Univmail Announcements is a daily email digest that allows FIU employees to communicate important university information, events, and other items. Information submitted is approved and must agree with the University’s policy statement in order to be posted.


  2. How can I receive Univmail Announcements?

    FIU employees are eligible to receive Univmail Announcements. In order to subscribe, you must have an FIU domain email account (username@fiu.edu). Depending on the type of username, you will have to take the following steps:

    Faculty, staff, OPS with employee usernames
    You can request to be subscribed by contacting the UTS Support Center at 305 348 2284 and request that you be subscribed.

    Faculty, staff, and OPS with student usernames (3 numbers in the username)
    For student employees, student/staff access is required.  If you do not have access and would like to get it, please fill out and submit the following form http://uts.fiu.edu/index.cfm?action=NewAccount.


  3. Who can submit an announcement to Univmail?

    FIU employees (Faculty, staff, and OPS) are authorized to submit University Announcements.  To submit a message employee must have an FIU domain email account. 

    If you are an employee and have a student username, Student/Staff access is required. If you would like to obtain access please fill out and submit the following form http://uts.fiu.edu/index.cfm?action=NewAccount.


  4. How do I submit a message to Univmail?

    To submit a message visit: http://univmail.fiu.edu. Enter all the required fields, and submit plain text message or webpage link (webpage link must be hosted on a .fiu.edu website).

     An email will be sent after employee submits a message in order to confirm submission. Employees are then required to click on the link inside the message, this finalizes the submission process.

    All messages submitted and confirmed by 3:30pm will appear in the current Univmail Announcements, any messages received after 3:30pm will appear in the next days Univmail Announcements.

    Communications that do not adhere to the university’s policy statement  will be rejected and will not appear in the Univmail Announcements. What cannot be submitted by Univmail?

    Communications using the UNIVMAIL system must be for official University business only and must be in conformity with University policies. The University's policy on electronic communications (11.35) states: "The University's electronic communications infrastructure shall not be used by individuals for commercial or for-profit purposes. This prohibition includes, but is not limited to: advertising a product or service for profit, fund-raising or advertising on behalf of unsanctioned, non-University organizations, to publicize unsanctioned, non-University activities, or the unauthorized selling of University property."

  5. What can be submitted to Univmail?

  6. What cannot be submitted to Univmail?

    University Announcements does not accept:
        • message to UTS Staff submitted within University Announcement.
        • inadequate or blank Subject line.
        • attachments.
        • message sent from unauthorized users (e.g., Non-FIU domain, or student FIU ID).
        • announcements not pertaining to an FIU-related event.
        • university course advertising.


  7. I no longer want to receive Univmail, what do I do?

    To unsubscribed, contact the UTS Support Center at 305-348-2284 and request that you be unsubscribed to Univmail Announcements. 


  8. How do I submit an image to Univmail?

    To submit an image, type the webpage link in the “Link” field. (The link must be hosted on a .fiu.edu website). If you have an image and do not have a link created, you may do so by clicking the following : How to use FTP to upload images .
